At the mink ranch when a mink would start going down I would use a product called Recover .. I believe it was a Bytril sp and antibiotic ... I had the clear Bytril also ... I have also used the paste that you can buy from the large animals supply .. It gives a weak animal a jump start and may be worth a try .. Usually when I used it the animal was on the skids so I had a low success rate .. It could be worth a try tho ... Chances are he will just start eating when he figures out he is safe and this is home ... I wouldn`t handle him alot till he got on his feet ...

If she is constipated in some way, she will loose her appitite...

but also, if she is not eating, there will be nothing to come out...

Warm baths will help create "the urge to go", but if she is stressed from a new home and handling, the baths may be doing more harm than good...

Ideally your Sav will have a water container in her enclosure that she can soak in. Just be sure it is large enough she can fit in comfortably. Adding a heater or placing it on an under tank heater will help make it more comfortable.

I've found that seafood gives my Tegu "loose stool", so it would make a good meal for a possibly constipated reptile. Fish fillets, shrimp or (grocery store quality) crayfish would make a good meal.

Best of luck!

What kind of set up do you have? Under tank heaters really arent that useful for monitors. If you can, get a redlight or something and put it on one side of the tank so it can bask. You want the basking area around 125F (some say up to 140F). Also, how much/how often are you feeding it and what exactly do you feed it? Pics of the set up and also of the animal will greatly help. Until then its really hard to help you with your questions. I also suggest do more reading on them in captivity (not from just one site) and do more research on them in the wild.
