Shipping a 2.5-3 ft tegu Vegas to Va

It cost 58 usd, asked how come it was so low and the owner said he can fit it into a small box. It sounds bad to me, but would the tegu be safe in there? The tegu was really dark, if you crushed up and oreo it would be more cookie to cream... dark tegus more uncommon or what?

Gary has a darker head but not a black nose, it just depends on the parents/genetics. Some members have higher white tegus, both parents had a lot of white on 'em. Some tegus have darker parents.
I'd ask how large the box is. What company are they using to ship? I think thats about how much it would cost to ship Gary cross country using usps. I can't remember what box size I had entered but it was a fair size. Depending on the heat, I would opt for a slightly larger box and pay the extra shipping. The extra space might make it more comfortable for the tegu.

the tegu i saw for sale is very tame i hear but has a feeding response. the own said when you open the cage its 50 50 he'll "go after you, but once he's held he's fine" he's 308 shippped. I dont want to pay for something that could possible take my hand off... also ive seen some tegus for 150-200

I would check the dimensions of the box it really depends on how big and bulky the gu is. Tegus usually get long before really filling out.

The cost with the feeding response lessened my interest in the tegu also the fact the own said " i can cram him into a pretty small box" not sure how he treats his gu with a remark like that.

I have learned never trust when someone says they are fine out of the enclosure my savannah was supposedly dog tame. Depends on how nice the tegus markings and color is that could effect the price. I think I paid $200 for tonka he was 30" ut he has scars on his head and missng some nails but I think he is perfect.

I have seen that tegu in person, and I would say pass. I didn't handle him or see him out of the tiny cage they have him in but he is pretty thin. Definitely not worth $250 let alone having to pay $58 in shipping.

Your two Extremes will be tv watching buddies before you know it.

I would have to agree on passing,.. she's been there for at least 2mths, she came in very under weight. Maybe a week or 2 before I got Natsuki,.. I thought about getting her myself before Natsuki but,.. in my opinion and her condition,.. she's not worth $250.

She's very Dark,.. has way more black than white which made me wonder what an all black tegu would look like when I saw her. Those pics are old and I haven't been in the shop recently to see if she looks better or has gained any weight. Wouldn't mind seeing her when she does though.

For 250 you would be better off getting one of the Reds they have,.. or from someone else.

On another note,.. depending on how bad you want a larger tegu right now. It can be more rewarding to help out and nurture something that really needs it. More so than the average pet that's easy to adopt or sell. Maybe he'll go down on the price since she's been there for quite some time and her condition.
