So my first tegu I got about 6 years ago. Due to being younger at the time and having other things to do I didn't give it the time it needed and it was very aggressive. I ended up giving it to a local reptile specialist/breeder who had other tegus because I just couldn't care for or have the time for it. Flash forward to today where I have settled down I wanted to get another tegu. Even though my first experience wasn't great I really think tegus are awesome. The one I currently have is at least a year old maybe two. I was told it was tamed but due to how it acted I don't believe it was tamed right. After having it for two weeks tonight was the first day my tegu actually came to me and was checking it out. After about 20 men's with him he let me pick him up and hold him for a bit without trying to run away. While I still have a ways to go it felt good to know I'm making progress.

Tl;dr: my new tegu is awesome!

That's great. They are curious. If you sit crosslegged, they'll come over and nose-flip your legs to see what might be underneath.
