Hello, So i have had my tegu for about 2 years. He eats probably better than myself, with a variety of fruits, vegtables, dubia, chicken, chicken hearts, fish, with calcium powder every other feeding. Eats like a champ, drinks like a champ, extremely active and curious. Every like 2-3 months I will get baby mice to help with his calcium intake.

His last feeding 3 days ago was 2 baby mice. I went on a trip, and upon return he seemed to be left in same location in cage. Hasn't touched his water bowl which he swims in everyday and drinks out of. Brand new clean water.

I cut off some talapia to feed him, and when I opened cage, I realized he didn't move and had his eyes closed.

In a nut shell he is acting extremely lethargic. He did not eat the food or seem interested, and is almost acting like dragging his front feet like MBD.. I don't think it's impacting because I just soaked him and he pooped. But i tried to get him to drink and he regurgitated all of the water and vomited, quite dramatic for myself and him I'm sure.. I feel terrible, and I don't want my little guy to die. I plan on taking him to vet tomorrow. Can anyone give me guidance on what it may be?

He has a day/night lamp with adequate heating, and a UVB light for day time. My we take him out every other day usually when feeding and let him roam around or bask in the sun. He is acting as if he has paralysis in the front of his body.

Rather than ask you a million questions, I suggest that you get him to a vet specializing in exotics ASAP. Good luck and please update.

Seconded- he needs medical care. Until you get him there keep him warm and still, and in dim lighting if possible to keep him calm. A dog crate with a small heat pad on one end would do nicely.

I know that bearded dragons can become paralyzed when fed something to larger, and like tegus or well my lazy lady she spends a lot of time laying down on her belly. If the food is large enough it can interfere with the infrastructure of the spine and cause paralysis. I'm just a reptile worker not a vet so defiantly go to the vet !
