Hello everyone I'm new to the forum. I have done research after research on the computer on how to bond with your Tegu. Needless to say Its just been a run around.. Everything online about B&W Tegu's seems to contradict themselves. I've had my Tegu as i like to call her "MY BABY GIRL"..well i have had her for about a 8 days see seems to be okay with her daily Schedule.Shes about a year old 4feet in length so shes a bit of a big girl. When my husband bought her for me she use to just free roam the pet store with a few more her size..well she sleeps in her "bed" as i call it since she has been free roaming my house like she did in the pet store. (i wouldn't want to change things up to much..i have 2 children she seems not to mind them to much. I make sure she's never hungry. She has regular bowel movements every day that look healthy so i got to be doing something right as seeing when i got her from the pet store she had some obstruction which i later found out she had eaten a sea shell decoration from the pet store. well in that catagory[/size] everything seems to be good. I was just wondering on BONDING/PROPER HANDELING OF A ADULT TEGU. If anyone has any tips on that i would greatly appreciate any advice anyone has .Thanks a bunch.

There is nothing clontradictory online, it's all the same.
Proper temps, housing, feeding. Don't force anything, be patient, give it time. That's the short of it. 8 days is nothing as far as time goes.

It took us about 5 weeks to get our three year old female to fully trust us and become more social. Our 6 year old male.... it only took is 2 weeks to start seeing him more out and about.

Every tegu is different.

Both of mine seem to like my kids as well.

Its really hit and miss... but just give it time and frequently interact with her. I cuddle mine all the time....and I find where I get the most trust and interaction is during bath time.

We have had our Tegu 2 months now and it is still wary of us, I spend days just sat watching as it walks about the floor and sometimes lie on the floor but it still wont come near me, I am being patient and hopefully one day it will decide I am not going to hurt it.
