i wish my rescue iguana would let me rub him like that! and that bedding you mentioned sounds like corn cob; very bad for iggys. the guy i got my iguana from kept him on that. congrats on the new guy/gal looks good and happy!

I hope you don't get offended by this but you're pretty new to reptile keeping right?

I'm glad you saved her from that horrible place. However there is one thing I feel that I have to point out.

Green iguanas are not social creatures. They don't need attention (which is both a good and a boring thing, hehe). She probably be best if you just left her alone just handling her once in a while so she keeps tame for the hands.

And I'm strongly urge you not the pet her. I'm pretty sure she only get stressed by this. And the thing you wrote about her whipping and running away should tell you that she doesn't want you to touch her.

It sounds like typical lizard behavior. First she tries to scare you away or run away herself. Then that doesn't work she changes strategy, to freeze.

This is the part most people think they are tame and likes being pet. But I'm afraid it's only another strategy. So for her sake, give her some space. :)

Do you live in a place with high humidity? Otherwise she really, really should stay inside the terrarium. If you want to spend time with her you should make the enclosure in a way so you can walk inside of it. :p

Anyway good luck with the iggy. :)
