Staining / sealing outdoors enclosure

I have been working over the past three weeks building my tegu enclosure and I have reached a mental stumbling block. I am putting the 8x4x4 enclosure on my screened in covered back-porch (I live in S Florida). As soon as I get the glass in, I will be testing the temp and humidity inside the enclosure in insure the proper condition.

My question is should I use on the outside of the enclosure? Premium outdoors wood stain? Regular Cabot wood stain with two coats of polyurethane? There is always a chance of the outside of the enclosure getting sprinkled with rain.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Stain however you like... then seal with a deck sealer...

Just be aware most deck sealers suggest you reseal every 1~3 years depending on the product, the application and the conditions it is in.

In case of outdoor enclosure there is big risk of rain. But it could be overcome simply by covering it with plastic. Using of glass in the enclosure is little dangerous as if it broken it could harm the tegu. Temperature in side glass cage is always different that is difficult to maintain.
