Whenever my tegu eats he always moves his head side to side, it looks like he is trying to help himself swallow the food, and then he always rubs his mouth back and forth throught the dirt lik ehe is wiping his mouth off or something. does anyone elses tegu do this? It doesnt seem to be causing him any harm but i thought id ask just to be safe.

My Tegu, Tank, does the same thing. It's like he's moving the food down his throat. I've seen snakes do this also. Tank wipes his mouth after he eats also. Nothing to be worried about.

I was also worried when I first saw this behavior!
