Taco bit my neck.

So, an update from last thread.
Taco's toe seems to be fine; his walking is completely unimpaired as is his "acrobatics". I have continued attempting to manipulate the toe he twisted to see if he displayed any pain reaction, which he did not.

Just now I was laying down on the floor watching TV, when he crawled onto my back. This is not the first time he has done this, and I am extremely ticklish :dodgy:

On this particular occasion though he started scratching at the back of my neck, as if he were trying to dig. Then he nipped me twice.

I can't tell if this is a sign of affection, or if he's trying to eat me. I assumed that he was smart enough not to do either, and I can't imagine the back of my neck smells edible to him.

Has this happened to anyone else? And can anyone imagine why exactly he did that?

Was it like in the video ( link below ) ? Usually they do that when they are trying to mate lol. They also huff and puff a bit before they bite.

LOL I don't think, and I rather hope that it wasn't real courtship behavior. He's about 2 feet long and just under one year old. He wasn't making any "puffing" noises as far as I could tell either. If it happens again I'll post it here.

Is it normal for tegus to scratch a bit during courtship? I've seen videos before but I can't tell if Taco was trying to imitate that in anyway, or if there was something on the back of my neck that intrigued him. He did something similar to the button on a pair of pants lying around my apartment a few months ago where he went up to it, tongue flicked it a few times, then started clawing at and biting it.

When he bit me it hurt, a little, but it didn't exactly seem like he was trying to tear a chunk out of me.

If nothing else it definitely wasn't a sign of fear, aggression, or anger.
