*Facepalm* The hybrid had been eyeballing it but never actually chomped down on it. This morning it was there, I went to feed him about an hour ago and noticed its just wires hanging with the plastic stick on piece. I'm hoping he just bit it and dropped it somewhere in the mulch but I haven't found it yet. Lucky me! The new enclosure might need to wait a week or two so I can take him to the vet if need be. He's now fast asleep with a belly full of mice.

Yeah I'm glad it was before a meal. I never thought it would be something a tegu would want to eat either lol.

I have had to remove mine from her enclosure. There has no less than 2 occasions that I forceably removed that thermometer from her throat. She ate 3 plastic caps one day.....didnt know it until 3 days later. Outside she likes to eat white cigarette butts, white rocks, and dog poo. She sometimes tries to eat black shiny plastic parts off my stereo.........and about a month ago she had about 4 inches of cord and the connector down her throat. She will eat anything she can get in her mouth.

It's crazy to hear some of the tings they'll eat. They're like portable garbage disposals. I feel better knowing other tegus have eaten worse. So far this guy has been taste testing almost everything he can reach, most things are way to big for him to fit into his mouth but i'll need to be more careful with him.
