My baby has been missing for two weeks now! I went to visit my grampa in canada for a week and a half and when i come back my parents tell me that my tegu has been gone since the day after i left!!!! I did a thorough search throught the house and no luck! I moved book shelves, moved the fridge, tore apart my room and took everything but the cages out and no ttegu! I was afraid i smelled a dead tegu when i went in my room this morning but it turns out my fridge was unpluged and some mice went rotten... :bang im not sure what to do. im getting close to going on the hunt for a new baby. i lifted couches and everything with no luck! searched the aundry room and the bathroom and closets. Iv put food out for him but in the evening there is none gone. im afraid hes either gotten out side or a cat got him.. any help?

Not to offer an extremely obvious suggestion, but you have taken all the mulch out of his tank right? He's not just down for hibernation? Tis the season ya know...

Otherwise it sounds like you have scoured the house for it. Not sure what else to tell you I guess. The flour idea is the best thing I've heard for finding a tegu. If he's loose in the house, he will need to eat. A basking lamp and some food would be the best way to try to lour him out.

I wish you the best of luck!

he might have gone down the toilet
Its possible. how did he escape? If the cage was secure he had to be removed by someone. but if you really think he escaped you could try a small animal trap. Bait it with whatever food your tegu likes the most.

sorry to hear that. If hes a brand new tegu that you havent bonded with that much, you may want to put him down and start with a new one rather than have a huge vet bill and he still may not make a complete recovery.sorry about that.

Cats mouths harbor nasty bacteria, so I would at least clean his wounds and keep them moist with Neosporin to try and prevent a nasty abscess.

Well I was bonded with him. But I decided it would be best to put him down. I don't mind paying the huge vet bill if it will save him bu the vet said that he may not survive just from the severity of his injurys. I feel so bad I didn't secure his cage to start with. I learned my lesson at the cost if norberts life. :(
