Part of the decor I have in Diegos cage consists of a black bear skull which he generally likes to bask on. Yesterday, after hearing some strange sounds coming from his tank I went to go investigate. In the few spaces between where the upper and lower jaw met he was trying to pull teeth out. At first I thought to myself that maybe he was just bored, but as I watched he actually yanked one of the incisors free and swallowed it, Then very non-chalantly went back to sleep under his light. Not sure if that is his way of telling me he needs more calcium or what ( I had just fed him pinky mice the day before), just wondered if anyone else has ever had an experience like this.

When you boil a skull like that the teeth become loose that alone may be enough to entice your Tegu to pull them out .Also there may be some smell left in that area under the teeth that he is investigating .. I would remove it and put in a rock .... Oh yes you should give your Tegu more calcium ..

Him eating the teeth i am not sure if thats a sign of wanting more calcium in the diet,I would be worried about possible impaction. You should remove the skull and get a basking rock.As for the pinky mouse those are good for treats being they are mostly fat because they had no time to fully develop bones and other organs. You should be dusting his food with calcium(no d3 additive) at least 3times a week i believe .
