My store bought Tegu was in hibernation when I got him and is still sleeping non-stop. I've awoken him a few times and he's eaten some crickets but other than that, he sleeps constantly. On the other hand, my adopted female is very active. Both are on the sunporch so the temp and other conditions are identical. Not sure how to break the cycle. Wish I knew...
yes they should hibernate every year if youy are planning to breed because when they hibernate, whioch theyre supposed to, they stop growing, but if they are not hibernating they continue to grow and from what ive heard theyre reproductive organs expand and it makes them less likely to breed, it says it on varnyard-herps-inc.com in the tegu care/ breeding section.
