So My Tegu I feel doesn't like his food dish. He always walks up to his bowl with food in it smells it then just walks off. Twice I took the food out and he ate it not in the bowl. I had a few pinky mice in the dish, he went up and walked off. I then took a mouse out and tossed it on his basking rock where he was sitting and he ate it but wouldnt out of the dish. I did it again with superworms today and he wouldnt eat until I tossed them one by one to him and he ate a few. He neever had this problem before he wet down for hibernation but now wont touch anything in the dish. Could it be he still isnt ready to fully eat or should I try feeding him in something else?

Could be the dish or just that the movement of the mice and worms stimulates him for now. It takes time for them to fully come around after hibernation.

Hmm now that I've been thinking about it the dish hasn't been cleaned in a while and we have two cats that like to lick it. I'm guessing maybe he can smell the cats and it turns him off. I'll give it a good wash and see how that does. If not I might just use paper plates.
