Hi i have just purchased my very first tegu! I purchased him/her at the white plains reptile expo yesterday. It is a hatchling around ten inches and is very sociable. The only problem is that it keeps burrowing and will not come out unless I take it out. It also has not touched its food yet i tried feeding it a lot of things.

Hey congrats on your new tegu. I had the same problem with my own girl when i first got her, who is about three now. First it is sometimes common for tegus to take a while to get comfortable and used to a habitat change and they will not eat... UVB bulbs are VERRRRY important for a tegu.. make sure that you have both heat and uvb bulbs... uvb allows tegus to absorb nutrition better and will give them more energy. My girl was very sluggish and didnt eat until i got a ubv bulb.
