I have been trying to get my tegu used to being around me by petting his back and he seems to enjoy it but as soon as i try to pick him up to take him and feed him he whips me with his tail. Im sorta concerned because well hes not biting me. Now i know that sounds rediculous but i was just wondering if thats a good sign he doesnt bite or a bad one? Thanks

You should try this.
Don't grab him from his back. Instead so with your palm full open lift him.
If you don't get bite, then your Tegu wasn't comfortable.
Either way you will see an improvement.

Mine whips his tail if he doesn't feel comfortable with the way I am holding him. They would rather just sit on your hand or arm rather they you hold them.
