Hello!
I was just feeding my tegu, and she dropped some of her food into the substrate. I house her on Eco Earth coco coir. Before I could scoop the food out (which was salmon and egg yolk) she reached down and ate it. While getting a mouthful of coco, she also got some of it up her nose and she's sneezed a couple of times. I read that the sneezing is fine and that's how she's getting the dirt out of her nose, but will she be okay from eating the coir? I was told by quite a few people (the breeder included) that coco coir is digestible and won't hurt her and won't impact her, but I just want to be sure. She's still really little (14 inches and 82 grams) and this wasn't the first time the goofball has dropped her food into the coir and gotten some of it in her mouth. I'm really considering switching her to paper towels because the eco earth makes me so paranoid. : /
