I also found 4 eggs that were bad from my female i sold as it was related to the first two and the other 3 eggs i didnt find were eaten by one of the others. Im also going to be building new trough design cages in the next 2-3 months and there going to be nice but expensive at least they will be more efficient and allow 2ft of dirt in a large area. The cages will be either (1) 8x4x5 and (1) 6x4x6 or (1) 8x3x5 and (2) 6x3x6

Those are killer looking!
I've looked at Argus over the years but never got one though I've had many other monitors. How are the temperaments? I have heard they can be quite nasty but I have seen lots of folks holding them too. I see you let yours roam a bit so they can't be that bad I'd guess.

Thanks
They just like to be left alone most of the time or they will just huff and puff but will rarely bite. There very active and like to explore so they dont stay still long except when basking. There really aggressive during feeding which i like and they sure can eat a ton of food, in the last 3 days i fed over 50 mice to them

Its basically like a war when im trying to move kira the big females back to her cage or out of it and thats only a 3 footer. Around Nov there will be a bigger challenge in moving two 4 footers around, the two males should be about that size by then.

Awesome pics man. I dont know why people cross argus monitors, I think pures are better looking. The first pic is cute lol. I love them when they are grumpy pants.

Thanks

I actually like the crosses mostly the 3way crosses but they don't have the same personality of the Argus. The only problem i see with crosses is people try to market them as pure animals just to make more money which is a shame. Other then that they make better pets then Argus as they grow to about 30 inches and makes housing easier as most people cant provides the necessary space for Argus.

I have a few basking spots in my cages that range from 130 to 160F, they need high basking spots to properly digest there food and that includes all monitors.

larger female -- lives in an 8x2x4 with a foot to 2 feet of dirt
pale male and new female are living together in a 8x4x4(one part is 6ft) so far without any problems
New male is living in a 6x3x3 and by nov he will be in a 8x6x5
Juv is in a 4x2x2 and will out grow that in a month then, it will be moving into a 6x3x3

Most of the time they will get alone but as always there will be problems as they weren't raised together. Females are usually the problem, they will attack the males before or after they lay eggs. Thats why i had to separate the large female from my crosses every once and a while a few months ago.

That's neat...I don't know much about monitors but it's cool to learn new info.

hopefully my friend hatches another pale Argus in his next clutch that coming up. My adult female looks as she may be ovulating again, it sucks that my pale male still needs 4-6 months until he will be big enough to breed. Another infertile clutch coming :(
