does my tegu need calcium dust if he has 2 uvb bulbs

Absolutely..... A calcium supplement should be offered with almost every meal..with the exception of when you feed prey such as mice. I am speaking about a pure calcium supplement. Also, A calcium supplement with D3, once in a while is a good idea, in my opinon. The pure calcium supplement can be given often. However, the calcium with D3 cannot. Too much D3 can harmful.

Get some calcium, the multi vitamin doesn't have enough calcium.

You still need a pure calcium supplement and a calcium with D3 supplement. As far as a multivitamin.. In my opinion, I do not really think they are necessary. I believe that a very well balanced tegu diet and calcium supplements, combined with proper lighting, serves all captive tegu needs. In fact, too much of a vitamin can be toxic.. So unless you know that your tegu has a certain vitamin dificiency, you could be doing more harm than good.

Reptiles (and humans) need a proper balance of calcium and phosphorous in 1.5-2 parts calcium to 1 part phosphorous. Most foods without bones that are fed to tegus are very high in phosphorous and very low in calcium. A multivitamin that contains calcium usually has phosphorous, too, AND the calcium is in the form of dicalcium phosphate, adding more phosphate. The bulb adds no calcium, it promoted the synthesis of Vit D in the body which allows the calcium to be used in the body.

When i kept tegus i would use a good uvb bulb, basking temps of 100f to 110f,variety diet, when feed things like ground turkey, beef liver i would use calicum without d3 on it or mixed in,but also feed them whole prey items like mice, rats, quail for calcium and i never had any health issues.

Ditto use calcuim on all raw store bought meats. I do use vitamin supplements once a week and I use calcuim w/d3 with no ill effects but only really do cause I can't find cal w/o d3 until this week the tropical pet store had one tub of repcal w/o d3 and I snatched that up quick lol
