Water.

I've seen a lot on here, the rest of the internet, and in book about how Tegu's love water and baths. Says they like to soak in their water dish or take baths. Now - is that something they grow into or is that supposed to be from a young age? Nagion will not go in the water dish (it's definitely big enough) - doesn't even like getting its feet wet. I tried giving a bath 3x - and it ran out of the little tub I used the first time. The second/third time I tried the sink and it kept trying to escape that too then entire time I tried. Any advice?

My blue seems to love water. Woody, who's only about 3 months old, hates it for the first couple mins he's in there, then he seems to calm down. Tinka and Camille seem to despise getting in water so I'll give em some easy hosing every now and then. Bruce usually free roams and finds his way to my bathtub and waits around for me to fill it up and let him in. It depends on the gu!

With mine I've found that if the waters not warm enough, they don't want anything to do with it besides drinking.

Same thing happens with my tortoises.

The water in the cage is about room temperature and the bath water I get for him is warm - not hot but almost. I tried multiple temperatures but no matter what I do he runs from water like hes a cat.

I've never had a tegu who seemed to like water that much which is weird cause of all the caresheets say they do. Regardless of temp they always just try to get out I wind up using baths as a trust builder

^ I do the exact same thing. Prime hates water. To a point where, if i cant get him out of the enclosure, all i have to do is mist the substrate and he'll look for somewhere to hide, which is my hand lol. Lets not even get started with the bath tub...

Should I continue to try to give him baths or wait til he starts playing in the water? I don't want him to get upset with me but I would like him to like water or at least tolerate baths.

In my experience tegus generally adapt to soaking, my tegus will only poop in the tub, smaller tegus tend to not like the tub, but as they get older they realize its not so bad, just keep the water warm and shallow, also i would put him in the tub so he cant escape

He just kinda goes to the bathroom where ever, but barely even touches his water dish. The last time I tried giving him baths I used the sink since hes so tiny and couldnt escape that - plus I was a little nervous on putting him in the bath tub too soon.. Maybe I should? Put something in there so he could get out of the water if needed??

Dio haaated water as a baby. He would just run in circles in the tub trying to escape, i'd just leave him in there alone in the quiet for like 5-10 mins, sometimes turning the most of the lights out calmed him down too. He also never went potty in the tub until he was around 2 months old. He definitely grew into it, I gave him a bath about 6/7 days of the week for the first year of his life, and now he tries to leap into the tub whenever he realizes that its bath time.
