Hey there, This is my first Tegu, his name is Tan. I got him at the end of June. Any idea what this white/ greyish fuzzy spot thing is? Its been there since mid August. Is it a burn? He has had a shed, and the spot was there. Once the shed was gone, the spot was still there. He still has normal behavior, and eats. He is going to brumation soon. Any advice, would be appreciated. His basking spot is 115-120 degrees, uvb bulb 80degrees, humidity between 65-80 percent. Thanks.

Hmm… well if he’s behaving normally that’s a plus. You usually don’t have to worry until he’s displaying strange behavior. That might simply be a unique spot on him… have you felt it? What does it feel like? A bath is always a good option if you haven’t given him one. It might be a bruise. I say feel it, tell me how it feels. You shouldn’t worry unless he starts behaving strangely.

Ty! He gets a little hissy when I pat in that area, so I havent been. It was suggested to me that perhaps it is a burn. Which is possible ..so I have been treating it with actual aloe plant in the a.m. and non medicated neosporin. I raised my basking lamp higher also, without much change to his temps .

We’ll make sure whatever he’s eating is okay for him and that there’s calcium powder in it! It’s good you raised the lamp higher, make sure you have a vitamin d lamp (not sure what it’s called, UVB maybe?) as well as the heat. But other than that I wish you good luck!
