Haha its the opposite with me. My tegu just lays there as my cat attacks HIS tail. The only time he gets upset is when she starts pawing at his head, but he's only once reacted aggressively towards it, and all he did was open his mouth and step foward to scare her away. Just one step... didnt...

Though my tegu has shown interest in balled up socks, it never seemed like he wanted to eat them. If your feet get bitten, it would probably be more a sign of aggression. Tegus test for food using more scent and taste, and unless you're playing footsie with mice, I think your socks should be safe.
