Yeah we did the math today it’s actually not bad about 25 a week per adult lizard so reasonably after the expense of the lizard and enclosure one could sustain feeding one lizard for less than what a pack a day smoker spends a week/month
That’s awesome my dogs are the same way but I don’t trust them enough to really let them hang around. My tegus don’t mind anything I’ve seen so far but my niles will fight on sight, the male Nile can be left alone with the tegus and not a problem so far other than him trying so hard to cuddle...
Today I let the larger of my two niles stomp around the tegus since he’s always showing such an interest in getting out while he sees them out roaming around
She is about to be two from my knowledge and I think my male is the same or a year older. They are great very happy calm lizards I have two Nile monitors also and they are what I call full spectrum lol there are better and worse moments with them
I move mine to a smaller tote full of substrate on a heat mat when brumating but once they hit 24” long I move them to a 4x8 with a bigger hotter basking set up I made fixtures myself for 3 and 4 basking bulbs but they will almost always have to be hanging or a basking spot that’s raised up
I have an adult male and a female bigger than that and my female isn’t big enough to breed yet from what I’ve been told. I think they have to be 2 years and a certain size she is a beauty though
My female didn’t take anything but live mice until just a few months ago amd she is almost considered adult sized. One day I let her and my adult male eat together and she just started eating everything and has since. Strangest thing
I know this is years old but I have two niles a male and a female. Female is 2.5 feet male is 3.5 feet so they aren’t big. I have a male and female tegu both way bigger.
but anyways I’ve been letting my niles hang out together in each other’s enclosures and I watch from outside the room with a...
I had this identical problem with my female for a couple months. I used coconut oil every day or two and some triple antibiotic / neosporin here and there. Same for minor nose injuries. Took a couple sheds to clear up but has been perfect for a while.
I use sand soil as substrate since then too...
So stitches is doing great and so is Merlin they eat every other day skip two here and there and poop like cattle, also I know many people get mad but I do let them live together full time. Big guy chases her down for horny action every couple days but he doesent bite her much at all and they...
So I got my first monitor today.a blue banded Nile?after an hour drive home it only took about an hour and my girlfriend had him chill and being very curious.good for the most part.he will still run and jump out of nowhere but it doesent seem to be related to us because we pick him right back up...
Yeah I made a creek in my enclosure with a drain for easy cleaning.they will always poop in water if available.I think it may even reduce the chance of a prolapse but I don’t know anything
