    Free ranging possible?(kept in garage)

I'm sure I could set up some lights to accommodate that. What about the humidity? It seems they need very high humidity. My chameleon is actually kept similar with cooler temps... he gets about 8 warm months with cool humid nights(I just fog him at night). Then for a few months temps drop to 50...

    Free ranging possible?(kept in garage)

My garage is basically my new reptile room since we moved. It gets cold in the winter here so I have an oil heater going to keep it manageable and I'm going to put plastic over the windows. Possibly some heavier insulation in the future. It is pretty small(that's why we don't use it for our...

    Please critique enclosure plans

Hi everyone, this will be my first time building something like this. Still in the planning stages, but I did a quick drawing(you'll be able to tell quickly that I'm quite the artist). I just have the basics down, still need to decide which and where to put the UVA and UVB bulbs, can you guys...

    Lighter weight building material?

Hmmm well I might need to stick to wood then, I planned on having a fairly deep substrate layer for the bio critters. Maybe I can convince the GF to allow the tegu in the living room lol. If I can build the enclosure nice enough, might just look like a piece of furniture

    Lighter weight building material?

Thanks, been watching some videos. Btw I meant PVC not PIC, damn autocorrect. So question, is there any downsides to using pvc? This would seem like a great way to keep moisture and substrate in. Seems like everyone uses wood for monitors/tegus though?

    Lighter weight building material?

Haven't heard of anyone doing a PIC enclosure, any links to this? Thanks guys, sorry for the late response

    Lighter weight building material?

Hmmmm this is my main issue, not sure what to do. My floor is unsturdy as it is, when anyone walks you can see things shaking in the room. There are also 3 large, chameleon enclosures 2 feet of substrate each in that room... might have to find a new room. Wonder if I could make an insulated...

    Lighter weight building material?

So I'm running into the issue of weight. I'm afraid a wooden enclosure filled with dirt will be too heavy for my upstairs(the floor wobbles as it is...). Is there anything I could use that would be lighter in weight to build this?

    Planning enclosure

Btw thank you for the link to the book! Was looking for something like that. I also agree and see how it makes sense to have bright lighting for them.

    Planning enclosure

Thank you, I didn't think to use plastic, does it scratch easily? For the lighting I was wondering if you guys could tell me the specific lighting you use, like type of uvb, basking bulb, and uva. I use Arcadia light fixtures for all my Chams, wasn't sure if you guys ever used those. On another...

    Night cycle and temp

70 should be a perfect temp at night. I'm new to tegus, but that's what I've read and most other reptiles need it around there at night. My Chams can go down to the 50s even(that'd prob be pushing it for a tegu though idk). I wouldn't keep lights on at night.

Misting System ideas for my enclosure

Hi I use mistking and know a lot of people that do. I've never once heard someone say that they clog? If you're using distilled or RO that should not be a problem. I'll be using the mistking hygrostat for my future tegu enclosure personally.

    Planning enclosure

Okay cool thanks, just wanted to make sure the soil, bugs, and mistings don't destroy it over time, or leach anything dangerous. I guess I'm over thinking it though. What kind of lighting do you guys use? basking, uvb, etc? If I draw up a simple design, would you all critique it for me?

    Planning enclosure

Okay so I'm beginning to write down materials I'll need. I was told treated wood, coated with resin would offer the best protection for a bioactive tegu set up. How do you guys feel about this? With Chams I was generally told not to use treated wood for anything so I didn't consider it before...

    Misting System

What about mistking? That seems to be the most popular/best I've used and seen used as a cham keeper.
