    Potty train tips?

I’ve been trying with mine almost 1yo blue. He doesn’t like to poop in the enclosure, so it’s a good start. We put it in the coat closet with puppy pads on the floor, close the door and offer a treat once he’s done. It feels like he knows once he is in there he needs to “go” but the second step...

Does anybody else’s tegu does this weird thing?

Gnarlo loves to rub himself all over the couch. I’m curious what could it be. He doesn’t do it every day but here and then he does some laps around the couch just dragging himself, so I just got curious of what could it be. Hahah Here is the video. (I wish they’d allow to share videos directly...

Baby tegu with some concerning behavior

Could something have fallen in it and got stuck? Sounds like something is bothering her. I would try to give her a bath. Maybe soaking will help the debris to come out.

    Any SF folks?

Anybody from SF that feeds frozen whole prey? I found a website to order in bulk - bags of 25 or 100 of frozen whole prey - that charges a flat fee for the shipping. Apparently is a big box, will fit probably up to 10 packages of food, which I no need. So I was wondering if any San Francisco...

    Question about diet

Thank you all for the thoughtful answers. I’ll keep experimenting with different things. I’ve watched the rose city videos - that’s where my little guy comes from - it’s very informative. Maybe I need to get myself a meat grinder. Haha

    Question about diet

Thank you for the reply. Yeah, I actually do all that. It’s not that he is aggressive - he is a total sweetheart - it’s just that he is getting confused with the worms and the fingers movement. I feed him mixed veggies, meat (chicken, turkey, fish, shrimp, pork in small amounts), eggs...

Random Aggression in 3 year old tegu

I had an adult female and she was doing the same when we used to reach for the enclosure. But I started target training her, so she learned quick that food just comes when I show the target and she stoped charging at out hands. Now I have a 4 month old now and I get my hands in there all the...

    Question about diet

Hi there, I have a almost 4months old tegu called Gnarlo. He is a sweet heart but still learning how to deal with his own instincts. My problem right now: I’ve been feeding him superworms and he absolutely love it more than anything! I like to give it to him because I noticed he gets more...

New tegu parents, some important questions

Yeah, maybe add more green leaves and fruits on her diets Grapes are great to loosen the stool. Baths helps a lot, I’d try that too. Maybe she will eventually get used to it. Constipation can be dangerous for them so it’s good that you noticed. Hopefully she will get better soon.

    Behavior change

I just got a baby that was really nice and mellow for the first couple of weeks and now that it’s getting close to two months the attitude seems to be changing a bit and he’s a way more skittish and started to bite. I noticed he got more confident getting used to his enclosure and also having a...

Can you help I believe my tagu is injured.

You should take it to a vet to check on it. It looks like it can be serious if it gets infected.

New tegu parents, some important questions

Sometimes they burry their poop in the substrate but if she didn’t poop for 4 days I think it’s concerning. She can be impacted and that’s not good. Lots of water and humidity in the air might help. Add something to her diet that will help with the process like grapes, for example. Giving a warm...

    Half-dropped tail, WTF??

I’ve never heard of lizard dropping just to drop. It’s usually under very stressful or life threatening situation. Perhaps it happened before you brought it home and you just noticed the next day. Sorry about that, I’d be sad too.
