I constantly hear mixed reports on the fire skinks diet. Some claim that they can be fed high-quality cat food, though I personally doubt that since tegu's themselves can't be sustained on that.

Skinks and tegus are more closely related to each other than they are to monitors anyway.
Honestly, a big tegu looks more like a skink to me than some of the actual skinks do. I would never have guessed that Blue Tongues and the red-eye croc skink were actual skinks unless someone told me.

I've been checking out pictures of other people's yearling tegu's and I've noticed that a lot of them are... big.
I first got Taco about... a year ago. Maybe give or take a week He was a little over a month old at that point. In about October he started going into a hibernation...
My Tegu has calmed down a lot since his puberty stage, I think. I really haven't given him the chance to prove himself, but he certainly doesn't throw a fuss when I touch or pick him up.
