    Sign's of Sickness?

Even though Colombians don't hibernate, almost all reptiles seem to slow down quite a bit when it gets cold. He also may be going through a growth spurt, which would cause him to sleep alot, or he may be about to shed.. Lots of animals will refuse food for a few days before a shed or moult.

    Most common mistakes...

I made the mistake of using a coil uvb bulb with my CWD. Dont do that. You should also have some documentation on your breeder/ parents. You want to know exactly where an animal that expensive comes from.

    live vs dead

Mine won't touch pre-killed insects unless they're mixed in with turkey. However, you can get them gut-loaded freeze dried. They also have extra vitamins and such.

    Things to help shedding

I bathe Gaia in Olive oil and water, keeps her skin super hydrated.

    shedding

He probably isn't shedding because he hasn't grown. I'm sure in time he will be back in full swing. As long as his skin isn't tight, I wouldn't worry. I'm so glad that he's doing better!

Quick feeding question before I go out of town.

I'm leaving for Nashville today, but will only be gone for the weekend. I have a jar of Fluker's freeze dried Beardie treats (grasshoppers, crickets, and mealworms). Has anyone had any luck with these? I was considering mixing them up in enough turkey to make them smell good, but not enough for...

    Advice or reassurance

I always feed in Gaia in her enclosure, she has food at the ready whenever she's hungry; she's never shown any sort of cage aggression . She has given me an investigative bite though, which may make for the distinguishment between hands and food. (I wouldn't recommend letting anything other than...

    HELP HELP!!!!

I would seriously consider rehoming that monitor. No offense, but everything about the care and setup is wrong, and we will die as a result. The best option is to leave it in the care of someone who already has a proper set up, because you really would hate to spend the time and money on a...

    Got him back

At least he seems to be getting a little better. I'm sure in his lizard mind right now, food probably seems awful scary.

    Got him back

I wonder if it's possible, after the actual infection or whatever it is in his ear goes away, that he may still act a little funny when he eats just because it's been so long since he's had a comfortable meal... is he still shaking as bad? Does he seem to be getting any better at all? Tis whole...

    I can't really tell if it's hibernation..

Well she woke up at her normal 4am this morning and gobbled up two arctic mice, looks like she may stay awake! :] And thanks James, that's what I thought but I wanted to double check here just in case.

    Constant Burrowing

Yup. Repti bark on its own isn't great, but you can mix it with a bag of cheap topsoil and its great. I would do that before dishing out the money for another bag of Repti bark.

    Ceramic Heat Bulb?

Wait, are you using a CHE as your basking light or to help with ambient temps?

    Shaved Ham

If I'm not mistaken pork isn't very good for anything, but ESPECIALLY reptiles.. I wouldn't risk it.

    I can't really tell if it's hibernation..

So Gaia has slowed down eating quite a bit, and has spent the majority of the last couple of days in her hide.. but when she was out, she was VERY active. She seems to do this whenever she goes through a growth spurt as well, so I'm not sure which way it's gonna go. She came out for about six...
