    Never seen this before..freaking out.

If you can watch you gu poop, see if after the liquid urine, urates, and fecal matter, a long red tube comes out and slides back in. If so, it is positively a male. My 2.5 red poops every other day when I let him walk around my bathroom before his bath.

    Building a barricade?!

My 2.5 yo red does that all the time. They love to dig, burrow, and feel safe. It’s a natural behavior!

    Size of Adult Red Male?

Thanks so much! It was a challenge socializing him, but totally worth the time and effort!

    Size of Adult Red Male?

My Hope is 2 years and 4 months old. He is about 46” nose to tail and 13.5 lbs.

    Feisty baby

OMG! They don’t get socialized by themselves! I’ve had my red male tegu for almost 2 years and he was just like yours when I adopted him. I spent the first 18 months talking to him, having him smell me, sitting in an empty bathtub with him, and putting an article of clothing that I’d worn in...

    Stitches!!

Why don’t you try Reptilinks? You can customize many different size “sausages” with a variety of proteins, veggies, and fruits. My gu has always loved them and they are nutritiously adequate to ensure that your tegu thrives. BTW, I also supplement with f/t mice. Good luck!

    HELP! Tegu or nah?

I totally agree with rantology. Tegus take a lot of space, time, effort, and patience. A small apartment would not be an acceptable space for the large enclosure that an adult gu needs. They need specific lighting and humidification. My red male just turned 2 in June. I adopted him as a 3 month...

    Food question

Reptilinks are super. You can customize the links to contain various proteins, fruits, veggies, and quail eggs. You can also choose the size links you want for your tegu. I usually sprinkle calcium on the links. I also add mice a few times a week since hey have all the nutrition my gu needs.

Best fogger or way to reach high humidity in 40 gallon tank.

My 16 month old red is in his 3rd and last enclosure measuring 8x4x4. I have very deep mulch, forest bedding and top soil and lots of ferns. I am using the MistKing Ultimate with 3 misters and 3 temp/humidity probes in the enclosure. The Ultimate comes with a timer with 10 possible misting...

It’s amazing what a difference in personality between my tegu and my blue tongue skinks. The tegu is so active, inquisitive, and intelligent. I’m trying hard to tame her by putting my hand in her tank and allowing her to flick her tongue at my fingers, sometimes giving me a little nip, and...
