A Story

2 Years ago, my parents went on a trip to Peru. During their trip they traveled all over South America. One of their stops was at the beautiful Iguazu falls. There, they got to see some amazing creatures and breath taking sites, but one caught my dads attention that he loves to relay to me.

After viewing the waterfalls they had a picnic area for everyone to sit and enjoy a lunch. Well my dad recalls these " Giant Lizards " were coming up to people and stealing their food! He was not afraid ( while raising me, he was introduced to all manner of creatures ) and was laughing at the people running away. He told me the Lizards were calm and friendly and he fed them while others in their group fled at the lizards haha. He loved the lizards got a kick out of how friendly they were, and how people ran from them.

About 7 months ago I showed my father a picture of an Argentine Black and White Tegu and he confirmed that that was the lizard feasting with the people.

I've asked my parents for pictures of their vacation so pics should be incoming soon! Hope you enjoy!

I've read stories of tegus begging for scraps from people in parks and from fishermen. In all honesty, I'd be a little nervous if a wild, four-foot lizard brazenly approached me. My dad and brother recently went to Iguazu but didn't see any tegus.

Well, I finally got those pics from my parents of the Tegus at the Iguassu Falls. Unfortunately they only took a few pics of them, I guess because they were covered in water from the boat ride into the falls. But, I still think it's cool to see the pics of them in the wild. It's also nice to see them in their pure natural habitat. I guess there are just insane amounts of butterflies down there to, I am going to assume they eat a ton of caterpillars and butterflies, not to mention tuna and ham sandwiches haha...

Haha that is one of my favorite pics because it looks like the river is just being swallowed up, but no that is just the edge of the waterfall, looking from the river's side. Look up the Iguassu Falls in Argentina / Peru , they are the largest waterfalls in the world.
