Advice on calming a young tegu?

Hiya sorry i havent posted in awhile.

My tegu "Kompis" is really friendly but for the last few months hes been really kinda hyperactive. Its like hes hungry and just going nuts even tho he doesnt bite or never have i cant control him out of the enclosure since i moved to another apartment about 2 months ago. Its like he gets wilder and wilder the more hes out of the enclousure and if hes out for more than like 5 minutes i nearly have to chase him to catch him.

I used to just lay him on the couch in my old appartment and he would be calm like a whistle. Ive been reading alittle about internal worms that cause tegus to feel hunger and doesnt seem to be a rare thing especially since the breeders i bought them from (only one in sweden with constant stock) seem to be famous when it comes to not handling their reptiles well.

Ive had him for about a year so i think hes like 15 months old or something like that.

Any advice?

Have you read the thread "Taming the beast"? http://www.tegutalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21

You need to work with him in a tegu safe room, chasing him will only make him worse.

what would be considered a tegu safe room

That would probably be a room where you wouldn't have to chase him or stop him from going some where he shouldn't go.
Plain and simple. A big bathroom would work.

Hey buddy long time no see.

I'll have to second what everyone's saying. I use the bathroom. Place sometime underneath the door (towel) if the tegu is small enough to get out. Pick up the trash can. Put the tegu on your lap and socialize!

Yup 100% agree, big bathtubs or showers work well too, but you can pretty much tegu safe any room in your house, I do the living room alot by sticking a blanket under the tv gap and the couch gap, other that that he can roam a huge room with no worries, only thing is mine are already tame and choose to stay with daddy :D
