age and sex

At about 31" and one year old should you be able to tell the sex of a tegu? I know what to look for just really haven't seen it yet. If I hadn't found spurs yet would it be safe to assume female? I don't have any pics of bottom right now.

I have a year old male and could feel the buttons at 22". You can definitely feel them now that he is 30" and he has a stocky build.
