Around a month ago I recently got a tegu to keep as free roam around the house. She's 3 years old, her previous owners kept her only as a breeder and did not socialize her. I have her basking area and bed in the same room I'm in the majority of the time and she does fine in that room, letting me pet her, move her etc. However outside of that room she's completely different. She'll run like I'm chasing her, huff and hiss nonstop when I'm not even near her, and go to bite if I get even remotely close. Is there an explanation for this drastic change in behavior and is there anything in particular I should be doing other than the standard tegu taming?
