Unfortunately I am thinking of selling my Black & White Argentine Tegu Zeke. I don't want to part with him, but he really needs more space and attention than I can currently give him. If I can't find a suitable home for him, then I will keep him, but I will definitely consider those who can give him an amazing, loving, forever-home. I THINK Zeke is a male, because I believe I can feel buttons at his vent, but I'm not 100% sure about this.
I purchased Zeke as a little guy at a reptile expo from the pet store House of Scales. I am not sure of who the breeder was. I am unsure of Zeke's age, but the last time I measured him, he was a few inches over 2 feet in length tail included (I believe 2'4", but he's probably grown an inch or so since then).
Zeke is feeding well on pretty much any kind of meat, such as ground turkey, but he absolutely LOVES frozen/thawed mice and eggs in any form. I give him cod oil liver once a week in capsule form; I just hide one in a turkey ball and he scarfs it right down. I feed Zeke in a separate bin. Usually he knows when it's time to eat, and he can get a little excited about that (running to the cage door), but that isn't all the time. Most of the time, he just lumbers over to the door and crawls in to your arms, or if you hold the plastic bin up to the cage, he will crawl right in to it (and back out when he's done). Zeke has never been aggressive towards me or anyone. You can go right in to the cage and pick him up, though he's still a little nervous around people, he doesn't ever run away. He hibernates most of the winter, and has been growing like a week since he has been awake.
Zeke does have a few physical flaws; two missing nails (the same toes on each front foot), and the very very tip of his tail is gone but 100% healed; he had some stuck shed when I first got him and unfortunately I didn't notice it in time. He is shedding right now as I type this. Recently I also noticed the end of his tail is kinked. I'm not sure what the cause is, because he gets supplements every day and has the proper lighting. Besides that, he is a fat and happy boy. I know he would like to have more free-range time; he hardly gets any here. I should mention he is nervous outside, but a lot of that is probably due to my nosy dogs sniffing him while we're out! =P Zeke is very curious and loves to explore. His favorite sleeping place is in a pillowcase, with the pillow included. =) I also just discovered he likes to play with dog toys. And by play I mean grab them and toss them around. It's hilarious!
I do not feel comfortable shipping, so the buyer would have to come to me. I am located in Kansas City, Missouri. I am asking $160 cash for Zeke, which is less than what I payed for him, but the price is somewhat negotiable to the right home. I will include the cod liver oil capsules with him; the bottle is pretty much full. All I ask is that pictures/updates are sent to me from time to time, because I'm really going to miss him! PM me or e-mail me at [email protected]. E-mail/message me saying why you think you would be the perfect home for Zeke. Thanks so much! I will attach some photos that I just took of Zeke a few minutes ago.
