Car rides?

I have just started taking mine on short rides, and he seems to enjoy it.
Yesterday we made a food run to the local pet store. My main goal is when this little guy gets big I want him to be comfortable in all situations. A friend of mine does reptile education at local schools and I am really looking forward to getting to share with my tegu.
When/if your rides in the car, do you let it sit on the dash, in a porter, or roam the vehicle?

My friends Argentine B&W rides in his back seat or front seat without ever moving when he takes him to schools or parties. When he runs to the hardwear store next door, he let Oreo (the Tegu) ride in the back of his truck on warm days.

Mine ride with me, I have no problems with them at all.
