This is the second time I caught her biting on a big piece of mulch in two days. I doubt she is hungry because I only observe this behavior after she eats and she hasn't swallowed a piece yet. She seems to pick pieces that are big enough to fit in her mouth but difficult to swallow. This is the link to the video (whenever youtube processes it)... let me know what you think and also has anyone else observed anything similar? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjeVmRJSaOk

yea tell me about it... but she goes for the same one all the time. I took away the one from yesterday right away but she is using another one now. After about 3 minutes she put it down and is currently chilling on the cool side of the tank...

That is really weird, mine has bit other things before but I dont think it was on purpose as it was only one quick bite...but that is a very interesting video and question Id like to see what Bobby has to say about this because Im clueless...would make sense though in my opinion?

I have watched my tegu bite on smaller pieces and swallow them sometimes. Never any that sized though always quite small, and so far no problems with impaction.

Tbh it really looks like she's cleaning her teeth, using that piece of mulch as a toothbrush. :p
