So here's what it looks like after most of the damaged pieces were removed. The side and back are damaged as well, if I have to remove those I'm just buying or building a fresh new enclosure. These guys have amazing qualities but also extremely expensive and labor intensive ones. Thank god he's in hibernation or I'd be in a lot of trouble.

Ye gods! Was there rot that gave him a toe-hold??
I heard I weird noise and when I checked on him he was digging up chunks of wood. It was a really bad rot that got through the floor of the cage and had damaged the sides. Was my fault for letting it get that bad, but to be fair, I had used 4 layers of drylock and expected it to hold longer. The cage my not be salvageable, but I will try my best. I have a couple months before he wakes up anyway.

For now me and my carpet cleaner are gonna go through a couple hours of hell.

I’ve seen sheets of what looks like the sides of shower units or bathroom walls near water. Don’t know the name of it, but it won’t rot for sure.

I know what they are and have seen people use them, but they are a little to expensive for me right now. What a believe I will do is stop by home depot tommorow, pick up some melamine, piece it together, slap on my old door, and line the bottom with a tarp or pond liner to prevent rot.

Well hard work pays off. I'm gonna make a trip to lowes for some plexi and 2x2's and then I'll just about be done with the new enclosure.this time there will be a tarp to hold all the substrate, and I siliconed all the seems anyway, just in bloody case.

Ok I finally finished it. The tegu seems to enjoy it as well :). That took so much work and I'm happy to be done. Still only a 6x3 cage but since my tegu seems to have maxed out at 42" I think it is acceptable. One day I fear she will have found her way under the tarp and I'll have to dig her out, but that will hopefully been some time in the future.
