I am 28, my girlfriend is 26 (well, soon enough) and we're both interested in caring for a tegu or two. We thought about cats, but her roommate is allergic. We thought about dogs, but I really don't like dogs much myself and there's limited outdoor area for them to roam safely. Also, since she rents out the second half of the house (one of those dual-entry dealies) the yard is shared and we want to prevent any 'accidents' that might occur.

There's plenty of room inside, though. When we started looking through magazines and books trying to come up with ideas we decided to get some fish, and we set up a tank for them and now we have a turtle keeping us company as well. However, we'd both like something a little more animated and to an extent, interactive.

So, we followed a link we saw in a magazine in the library and from on that page we came across a series of videos on YouTube showing off large lizards like savannah monitors and tegus. We both looked at each other and we knew that a tegu is probably our best choice, but we're researching it more first. Hence, joining this forum to discuss and learn from other members. Sometimes it might be her using this account too, btw, but hopefully that won't cause any issues.
