help with substrate!!

can pine BARK be used as substrate,(for tegus as for BP)....?? i will obeously give the bark some minutes in the oven so mites an d other insects are killed

I use a base layer of peat moss with a top layer of cypress mulch... Holds an amazing amount of humidity.
