So I dont have my tegu yet I'm still in the process of looking for the perfect little guy and doing research. I'd like to get a chacoan male tegu but they aren't the easiest thing to find no one seems to have them right now. So if anyone could tell me when tegu breeding season is that would be great. Also is there any major difference between the chacoans and the argentines? I'Ve heard the chacoans are a subset of the argentines but is their behavior any different overall? Any advice would be appreciated thank you!:D

Chacoan = Argentine. They are the same . There may have been some from the chaco plains region that were sold with white heads originally and the name has stuck. Behavior temperament all that stuff isthe same . However if it is being sold as chacoan the probability for it being hi white should go up .

It's Rodney,
But he is aweosme! Good choice, he works with me and is doing great things for conservation. Let me know if you have any tegu question
Rachel, I have purchased both my tegus from Rodney. My question is, he is a high white. she is what Rodney calls a firebelly. Is she a B/G and if she is are the eggs in the incubator then hybrids?

They are both Argentines (merianae), what you are seeing is genetic diversity :)
People have light and dark skin, red-brown-blonde hair...tegus can be dark, light, tan, white, and even fire-belly. These are genetic traits, but do NOT mean they are different species. teguixin and merianae should never be distinguished using color, but by their scales! T.t. has a pointy nose, one loreal scale (between eye and nostril), and flat "plated scales" especially on the head. T.m. has a rounder nose, 2 loreal scales, and raised round "beaded scales". Your babies will not be hybrids but pure argentines! They will most likley exhibit a beautiful variation of traits from both parents, and some maybe that even the parents do not display (hidden in their genes)! Keep in touch, I would love baby photos to see how the fire-belly is passed on and how dark and light variation shows up in what percents!
