What are some signs that my tegu is ready to hibernate? if so do i keep my temps the same or lower them? I don't want to lower his

How long have you had him, and what is his set up wth respect to temps?

Regardless, up the basking hot spot to about 115-120f. Sounds like he is trying to overwinter. You can place food out and see if he eats every couple of days. If brumating, he'll stay hidden, and may or may not come out to bask a short bit every so often. Occasionally, they might eat a bit. Varies from lizard to lizard and how cool they are kept.

Your choice. Mine are down for five months. You could keep hot spot and drop light to 10 hrs for a few months and see how he does.
