hi ive had my tegu for about 2 weeks now and he is doing great but the thing is that whenever i throw in any insects he will not go for them but if i put in liver, rodents eggs, he attacks them. do tegus absolutely need insects or can they just eat other high protein foods? he seems to be very fat, happy, and healthy. so im not really worried about it. i even got him to eat some fruit!lol but yea any input on this would be greatly appreciated!

they are like people. they have their own tastes. maybe he just doesnt like them. as long as your feeding him ground turkey and all the other goodies he should be fine

Skip the insects if he doesn't want them. Rodents & turkey are higher in protein and better for him. Crickets are an empty shell unless they're properly gut fed.

I'd still offer them now and again but he will be fine without, they outgrow insect eating anyhow..
