I have never potty trained them, but I have been told they can be trained to a litter box of soil, I have also been told they can be trained to go in one area.

I've heard some people will put their Tegu in a warm bath in the bathtub whenever they take them out. The Tegu eventually learns to go in the tub.

Hell yea, I want him to act just like me. He needs to sit down, read CycleWorld magazine, have a smoke, and crap.

Lizard porn!! Our Red Tegu is hung like a horse and obviously a real long tongue. Maybe he could make a little money on the side.

yeah my plan is to let him free roam most of the day if not all of the day. there will be a removable ramp from his cage to my bed so that he can get out. and once he gets a little bigger my roomates really want him to be able to just walk around the house like a dog or cat. theres not really much for him to get into thankfully although i'm sure i'll have to keep a good watch on him for the first few weeks, because they think of **** we never would.

so long story short yes i need him (or would like him) to be potty trained for my roomates sake and i guess the sake of my bed.

Sorry bro, you're on your own. Most of the time tegus gain a real adaptation to their surroundings. Apollo only crapped on the floor once because he couldn't get back in the cage. I believe that if you have a large enough soaking tub in his enclosure, he can pretty much take care of himself. Make sure you understand that your tegu will learn to trust individuals, not humans as a race or pheramonal scent. Apollo loves when I get him out, but whips the hell out of Desiree if she comes close. Make sure your roommates learn to bond with him/her, before they decide he's like a beardie and doesn't care.

Mine just uses his water dish as a loo. I gotta change his water everyday anyway, plus it keeps the substrate cleaner.
