This is my 8x4x4 for my tri-crosses, they are argus x flavi x gouldii crosses so basically everything of an argus but in a smaller body. The male is 4ft, female between 3-3.5ft. They are full grown at 4years old and have laid 8 clutches, she laid 10 eggs for me March 26ths, another 5 eggs May 18th and now shes due to lay again in 2 weeks. All which is completely healthy when fully supported. They are garbage disposals eating daily and have between 30-36inchs deep of sandy loam dirt perfect for burrowing.

*for pure argus's I firmly believe an 8x4 is way too small, these monitors are incredibly active and will use ALL the space given*

welp, I did my math wrong. She emerged from the burrow just now looking like a deflated balloon, looks like I'll be going digging tonight! Digging through all that to find the eggs is NOT a fun deal. lol very tiring and HOT!

Most of her clutches were with a previous owner, the pair were produced and raised by Frank Retes. I have got, now 3 clutches from them myself. They have a 200-250 day incubation time so I dont have any babies yet. Im very new at incubating as Ive never bred or hatched anything, being a rescue Im not really for the whole breeding thing but since these are not a common animal and are quite valuable I am incubating them. Im new incubating so I think my humidity was too high and I lost a few eggs from the first and second clutch, but still have 5 cooking, due to hatch between december-march. fingers crossed for healthy babies. I'll update with how many eggs I find tonight.

I can def understand your feelings about breeding but i also agree with your decision to try to incubate this particular kind.
I wish you luck with everything! Ill be keeping an eye out for future postings about these guys :)
