Right now I have a B&W and a 2010 extreme I also have a deposit on a 2011 extreme. I understand about feeding and housing. I was hoping to hear from you guys who have 3 or more and why you like having multiple tegus. I would have 3 males if I decided to get the third. I am obsessing that adding a third could upset the balance between the two. I love having tegus and am completely prepared financially I just like to worry :)

I have a male and 2 females. During the spring the younger female (Yoshi) started attacking the other female (Tiny). They always are fine roaming. They just cant be caged together, I am afraid that Yoshi would kill Tiny. My male (Bob) gets along with everyone and Yoshi has never gone after him. After roaming Bob goes into either females cage he feels like.

I am at home so mine are free roaming all the time and Tonka goes in and out of his age as he likes the extreme I have to watch because he just started free roaming. The new extreme is supposed to be a male but I know that is not a guarantee. I was told that sometimes if there is two males and one female that could cause conflict.

I have 1 blue unsexed ,1 female red ,1 male red ,3 female b/w, 2 males b/w and one b/w that gender is yet to be determined .I think I will stop for now. If you love the Gu:heart: its like tattoos you just cant have just one. I am waiting for the legal importation of Yellow tegus ( crossed fingers) .
My big guys are all for the most part free roaming but the little ones are all kept in cages to prevent squishing from the feet in the house and being eaten by the bigger guys in the house .

Well i had 1.2 b/w's and 1.0 red's, the only issue i had was when the red male hit puberty and started chasing the females and jowl popping(even though they were 3-5X his size lol) free roam was a breeze with the b/w's they just basked and ate(its always just that one lol) right now as you know i only have the b/w and the giant and they get along great, idk what it is about tegus but they are just an all around great reptile to have, once you get one you always want another lol

I myself have 1 3year old male who is housed alone in a 6ft ish cage and I have 2young Reds who are about the same size they are about 1yr who are housed together . I am about to build 2 6ft stackable cages this weekend to seperate the young pair. I will let them mingle socially in my open house. but I have heard to many stories about tegus being a little aggressive to one another and dont want to risk that with my group. I have 2 different friends who have both had multiple tegus housed and both of them had issues with aggression towards one another, one had a chunk bit off the rear by the tail / leg area and required vet assistance and the other had two that where housed together hangging out in a tub and had a similar issue. can you get away with multiple gUs being housed? Im sure you can.. but there will alwayws be that chance. I myself personaly dont want to deal with a "what if".
Right now my 3yr old male is about as puppy dog as it gets, hes the best snuggle buddy. I wouldnt trade my gUs for anything,

Thanks for the info. I do love them they are like my dogs they just hang out lounging around. I love to hear their feet when they walk around it sounds like there are dinosaurs roaming around. I would not house them together right now Tonka and chevy do house together but Tonka spends most days roaming around he does not tolerate being caged well. I let my extreme roam around for the first time the last two days not he too scratches constantly to come out. If something happened I would house them seperately. I was more worried aout roaming together. I was told if I threw a female in the mix there could beproblems between the males. I ordered a male extreme but I know there are no guarantees.
