I have heard bad things about backwater as well but my savannah came from there and she's healthy as can be and has extremely bright coloration. I'm really happy with my purchase from them.

I did have a fecal done for my sav, just to be sure since their reputation isn't great

The vet had me bring in the water dish containing it bc she always goes there.
