New Tegu, Lots of Questions

Hi everyone, Im new to the community and just got my first tegu. I purchased him from underground reptiles and they said he was a black flame tegu, 50% Chacoan and 50% argentine red, he is about 8 inches. I have him in a 36, 18,16 enclosure with about 5 to 6 inches of eco earth. i have a 100 watt basking line and an 18 inch uvb light. My issue is that within a day of putting him in his enclosure he has gone into his hide and dug underground. I understand that tegu's hibernate but i am concerned that I havent really had him for long and do not know much about how how this works. I woke him up and have tried feeding him and he refused 3 days in a row and on the fourth he ate a pinky. He will not come up unless i wake him. Is this normal and for how long will this last? Also, should I upgrade to a powersun 100 or 160 watt?

Every few days set food out. He'll come out when he wants to. Can even offer food if you see him out. Duration varies among lizards and location.

I have to dig mine out almost every time. Mine wakes up slowly and once he moves on his own I can just reach in and scoop him up. I set food out when I wake up and sometimes its 2-3 hours before he eats it. Im willing to bet yours comes out and you just miss it.
