i live south of rochester new york. i really want a tegu but my gf thinks theyre dangerous. i would like to know if anyone lives near me that i could come over and show her your tegus so i can get one.
Just go onto youtube and show her all the lazy lizards, lol. The only thing is, they don't come this way. If you don't interact with it and tame it down they can be very dangerous though.
Show her this video of these ferocious beasts - <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBICGcshTV0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBICGcshTV0</a><!-- m -->
How you keep the animal will determine itÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢s aggression. A well fed Tegu in a large enclosure that meets all of itÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢s needs will likely be sweeter than you ever imagined it to be. But that same animal in a cramped enclosure that is too hot or too cold and is too moist or too dry on a poor diet or feeding scheduleÃ?¢ââ??¬Ã?¦ and he will fight tooth and nail to escape the poor conditions.
You will find a host of You Tube videos with Tegus. You will see a trend that Tegus that are well kept seem quite friendly and those kept in small aquariums that are fed large live prey are the ones with a bad attitude.
VARNYARD has some beautiful tegus go check out his videos and he also has them on youtube. I don't own one yet but he will be the only breeder i purchase one from

this is ours fast forward to 5 minutes he's just chilling on our bed like how he always does. We live in central NJ about 45 minutes from Manhattan if you are ever around hit us up. Tegus are rock, but do your research of course they need a lot of room! We let ours free roam whenever he wants. They are big lizards and you can't just keep them in a tiny cage all day.
