Hi all. I'm just looking around, I've been thinking about getting a tegu (not sure what kind) for a few months (still have a ton to learn) joined the forum to read about peoples experiences with the animals. Not in a rush to get one. I currently have a wooden cage thats (inches) 90l x 36d x 27h. Is that something that might work one day? I know that 6ft long is usually the minimum (mines 7.5) and I think 3 feet deep was also a minimum.

I currently have a 1yr old bearded dragon, a guinea pig and 2 dogs. Anyway, hopefully I can learn some more stuff about these animals and decided whether its the one for me!

I'm with you! I'm a newbie to the world of Tegus as well...but this is a GREAT place to start. I received my first Tegu near the end of July this year, and I just adore him.

Keep up with your research and if you choose to own one in the future, you won't be disappointed! They're great

That cage should work fine. Ideally you'd want an 8Lx4Wx3T, but yours is close enough. A ton better than the 6x3's some people keep theirs in.

If you want a bigger cage, perhaps you can sell yours and build a bigger one?

Sweet! I was thinking it would either be a good starter or that it might work completely if I was able to get the tegu out for a bit to move around some more. Yeah I only got it for $50, I'm sure I can sell it for more than that. I was wanting to build my own but I don't have any tools
