Owning Tegu in Alabama

can anyone explain the ban on tegus in Alabama to me. I had my female chipped like I was suppose to, sent in for the permit etc. But I'm yet to hear anything back about my permit. Then I was told the other day I could have tegus shipped into Alabama that there was no law against it. I just want to know, has the ban passed and where do I stand legally keeping my tegu. Is my tegu saved from the ban now? Is it legal to have one shipped into Alabama anymore? Does the ban mean I can no longer rescue tegus?

Hi, I just joined and I live in AL too. I chipped both of my tegus and my dwarf retic. I can't answer your questions about the ban, but if you sent in a application to keep restricted species they are still working on them.
I have been checking on the permits and pasted the email I got from Carrie Threadgood.
I would think that you could contact Carrie or USARK for more answers.

We are in the process of reviewing applications currently and have not issued any out. Hopefully we will be issuing permits in the near future, but your application looked fine so there shouldn’t be any problems. Thanks.
