Plastic covering around fluorescent

is it ok to have a plastic covering around the fluorescent bulb? I want to place it inside the enclosure, but do not want him to break it by accident. I am concerned if that will remove most of the UVB rays.

it will remove all uvb, your tegu won't break it, take it off.

I always remove any plastic lens on a UV fixture.

I have been thinking about it and decided to use one of the mercury vapor bulbs for the uvb. I will use the full spectrum fluroscent bulbs for non-uvb purposes only.
